Sutton Coldfield v Olton
John Llewelyn won on board 3 and Keith Lawson also won on four. Bram Garner lost
on bottom board and the rest were adjourned. Dave Brown had a good opportunity
to win on top board, but only drew the adjournment. Dave Stockwin lost on two
and Mick Kerr drew on board 5 to draw the match.
Olton v Shirley
Dave Brown lost badly on board 1, but Dave Stockwin levelled the scores on two,
Keith Lawson had another good win on board 4 and there were draws on the bottom
boards for Mike Kerr and Bram Garner. John Llewelyn on board 3 adjourned to
leave the match undecided, but went on to win.
Olton v Boldmere
Dave Brown adjourned on board 1, as did Dave Stockwin on two. John Llewelyn and
Keith Lawson drew on boards 3 and 4. Mike Kerr won his game on five and Bram
Garner adjourned on bottom board. Dave fought hard to draw his adjournment and
succeeded, despite being a pawn down. Bram was less successful, losing a piece
after a few moves.
Halesowen v Olton
Dave Brown and John Llewelyn adjourned. Keith Lawson had another good win, but
Dave Stockwin and Nigel Terry both lost. Bram Garner got a draw, but John
Llewelyn lost his adjournment. Dave Brown's game was won without resuming.
