Stratford B v Olton
All four games were won for Olton. Gary Hope, Chris Pitt, Paul
Hodgskin and Andy Cottom formed the team.
Solihull B v Olton
The team won convincingly again, with Robert Wallman, Gary Hope, Steve Chadaway
and Paul Hodgskin all contributing a win.
Olton v Chipping Campden
Gary Hope played an old-fashioned response to the King's Gambit on
board one, but his opponent got through the ensuing melee to come out better for
a win. Paul Hodgskin had a steady and sure victory on board 2, as did Andy
Cottom on four. Ken Allen had much the better of the game on board 3, but had to
take the game to the time scramble to score a win.
Leamington v Olton
Gary Hope drew on top board, while Dave Cheshire standing in won on two. Steve
Chadaway lost on board 3, but Paul Hunt won bottom board to take the match.
Olton v Kenilworth
Gary Hope drew on board one, as did Paul Hodgskin on two. Steve
Chadaway drew on board three, but should have won and Jim Gillespie lost on
four, resulting in a rare lost match.
Daventry v Olton
Paul Hodgskin lost on board 2, but Gary Hope, Steve Chadaway and Paul
Hunt on the other boards all won, after an epic Journey to Daventry.
Olton v Solihull Checkmates
Gary Hope on board one was beaten by a strong opposite number.
Richard Liszewski held on for a draw on two, but Andy Cottom was well beaten on
three. Paul Hunt drew on bottom board on a forgettable night for the team.
Olton v Daventry
The match started well, as Paul Hodgskin won on top board. Steve Chadaway had a
good position, but a series of blunders by both players made this possibly the
worst game of the year so far. Steve was the last player to blunder and
consequently lost. Gary Hope on board 2 went Rook and piece for Queen down and
eventually lost. Paul Hunt on three went a piece for pawn up and looked set for
a good win. He ran short of time and although not losing, managed to lose on
time.
Olton v Leamington
Fortunately, Paul Hunt returned after the previous week's farce and
scored a draw on board 3. Paul Hodgskin won his game on board 2, but Gary Hope
lost after a long battle on one. Mick Kerr weighed in with a draw on four to
level the match.
Olton v Stratford B
A convincing win against an under strength team. Gary Hope drew on
top board, while Steve Chadaway won on two. Pual Hunt won on board three and Jim
Gillespie got a win by default on bottom board.
Kenilworth v Olton
Kenilworth were too strong on the night for the visitors. Gary Hope
lost on top board, but Steve Chadaway levelled the score on board 2. Chris Pitt
just coming back from his injury was beaten on three and Andy Cottom drew on
board 4.
Chipping Campden v Olton
Gary Hope drew on board 1, but there were losses on boards 2 and 3
for Steve Chadaway and Chris Pitt. Only Andy Cottom on board 4 was able to
record a win.
Olton v Solihull B
Solihull defaulted this match.
Solihull Checkmates v Olton
Gary Hope drew on top board, while Andy Cottom lost on two. Jim
Gillespie drew on three and bottom board was won by default.
