Leamington League Lightning Tournament This took place at Solihull's Venue, the Blossomfield Club, on Wednesday 23rd April. Games were played at the rate of 5 minutes, with rounds paired using the Swiss system. 22 competitors representing 7 clubs took part in 9 fast and furious rounds. Alan Lloyd took an early lead in the open section, winning the first five rounds, although several games went down to the wire. Other Olton players fared less well. Both Robert Reynolds and Rob Wallman lost twice in the early rounds, but they remained in the hunt. After a loss in round 6, Alan bounced back in rounds 7 and 8, but the others weren't able to keep up. Going into the final round level with Carl Pickering on 7/8, Alan needed a win for a play-off, but he lost and finished as runner-up. In the Under 125 section, there was constant chopping and changing between the leaders, but young George Vikandis from Banbury won this after two play-off games with club-mate Gary Jackson.
