Olton Summer Tournament The annual Olton Summer Tournament started on Tuesday 12th May. There were the usual 7 rounds, paired on the Swiss system. There were sections for players of various grades and spare weeks for catch-up games. The Tournament was won on tie-break by Richard Reynolds, second equal were Robert Reynolds, Richard Smith and Keith Lawson, who also took the Minor Championship. Ken Allen won the Major section on Tie-break from Jim Gillespie. John Green and Bram Garner finished equal second in the Minor section. All the results are here. Leamington Open Cup Win Olton's Open Cup team have convincingly won the Leamington League Knockout Trophy. They beat Banbury 4½-½ at the finals night in Leamington. This adds to the League Title and the Individual Lightning Trophy won by Phil Holt, who also won the Stanley Gibbins Trophy. |
